It is remarkable that three families of this typically rare order are known from Godwin Woods. Only four families occur in North America. Specimens of Meropeidae (Earwig Scorpionflies), Panorpidae (True Scorpionflies), and Bittacidae (Hangingflies or Hanging Scorpionflies) have been collected there. We collected meropeids at ENTOBLITZ in yellow pan traps. They are known from only one other locality in Texas. The larvae and the biology of the only North American species in the family, Merope tuber, are unknown.
